Iran Drones Hit Fuel Tanks at Kuwait Airport, Salman Port in Bahrain Also Struck as Middle East Conflict Rages

News O Pedia Bharat | newsopediabharat.com |Mar 09, 2026 IST

This escalation follows overnight strikes in Manama that reportedly targeted the Bahrain Financial Harbour Towers, housing the Israeli embassy.

Iran has targeted a facility near Salman Port, according to the interior ministry of Bahrain. One person was injured and several shops were damaged after missile fragments fell on a public road in the capital, Manama, the ministry said. The Kuwaiti Armed Forces also said they dealt with a wave of hostile drones early on Sunday, 8 March 2026, after the aircraft breached the country’s airspace and targeted fuel tanks belonging to Kuwait International Airport in what officials described as a direct attack on vital infrastructure.

“Civil Defence is securing and evacuating the affected areas,” it added in a short statement posted on X.

The development comes a day after Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency reported that overnight strikes in Manama had targeted the Bahrain Financial Harbour Towers, where the Israeli embassy is located.

The first week of fighting between the United States and Israel against Iran, along with retaliatory strikes by Tehran on countries hosting US forces and assets, has widened the conflict across the region.

The Reuters news agency reported on Friday that an Iranian drone had been intercepted and destroyed near the commercial complex.

In a statement, the Bahrain Defence Force said it had destroyed 78 missiles and 143 drones targeting Bahraini territory in what it described as “treacherous” attacks by Iran.

The command said it “takes pride in the high level of combat readiness and vigilance shown by its personnel”.

The military also urged residents to remain in their homes and only leave “in cases of extreme necessity”.

Several countries in the Gulf region and the wider Middle East, including Türkiye and Azerbaijan, have also been drawn into the tensions as the conflict spreads.
